We love turning beginners into experts by design. "What started as a youthful hobby turned into education opportunities and career foundations when I discovered how shooting can build networks and personal resilience."
~Sidney D.

How does membership work?
Membership is exciting and the procedure is usually accompanied by several questions. This brief outline aims to help answer at least a few of these. As always, please contact us if we can be of assistance.
New members must have a ‘Walk-Through’ prior to shooting and attend Introductions at the General Members Meeting held on the last Wednesday of the month. Your Walk-Through of the Club and Ranges will include an over-view of LSSA Rules and Regulations and will begin at approximately 6:15 PM. Please arrive on time; wear comfortable shoes and dress for the weather. Introductions, and Welcoming of new members will occur during the General Member Meeting, immediately following, at 7 pm.
Member Meetings generally last forty-five minutes to an hour and fifteen minutes depending on the agenda. There are occasions where a General Meeting will last longer, however, these are exceptions, not the rule. Meeting agendas, among other things, include Director Reports, Club News and Updates, discussion and often include guest speakers, gun give-aways, raffles and always offer camaraderie over dinner prior to the start of the meeting; come early! The monthly SABRES Board Meeting will be held following an intermission when the General Meeting adjourns; all are invited and welcome to stay for this as well.
Remember; this is your club. Be Social, Be Active and Participate! Please note that there are no member meetings held in November or December. If your (or our) schedule prohibits you from attending the required meeting and walk-through, please contact us!
We look forward to you joining us! Please download our membership application for fees, options and additional requirements.

How Many Trap Houses Does Lima SABRES Have?
Lima SABRES offers three trap houses which are all equipped with Pat Trap or LaPort machines; with the ability for each squad to shoot from the 27 yard line for handicap shooting. We have the ability to throw single or double birds for Trap, and the ability to throw just about every presentation known for 5-Stand. Each machine uses wireless voice calls with each house featuring stadium lighting for shooting in the evening.
03
What firing distances are available at Lima SABRES?
Lima SABRES has multiple firing ranges for rifle and handgun. Excluding the 'Trap' (shotgun) field, 'permanently bermed' shooting can be done at various distances including 7 yards, 25 yards, 50 yards, 75 yards, 100 yards and 200 yards. Some ranges permit a distance selected by the individual or group. Firing up to 300 yards is available under club supervised settings.
04
Is this an Indoor or Outdoor shooting facility?
Lima SABRES is not a fully enclosed and air conditioned indoor shooting facility.
All of our ranges provide overhead cover at the firing line; in the case of our Trap field overhead shelter is immediately available under cover of the Clubhouse porch.
Two ranges offer fully enclosed, heated facilities for distances to 50 meters during Ohio's Fall, Winter and Spring seasons.
10 Meter Air Rifle and Air Pistol events, as scheduled, are permitted to occur within the clubhouse.
The clubhouse is fully air conditioned year-round and features a full kitchen with Public water and sanitary systems, internet, telephone and seating for our patrons to relax during hosted events.

Lima SABRES is a private club; I've never shot before.
This is a break from the digital sales pitch of the Interwebs and the only review that…well, isn't a "review", but a personal heartfelt statement.
My name is Jeremy. I had always appreciated our nations founding documents and held its sentiments Dear.
Somewhere around 2008, my personal interest in shooting began to grow. I didn't own a handgun; I had never even shot one to be honest. Truth be told, I had just inherited my first 'real' gun; my grandfathers .22 rifle. At nearly 40 years old, I now owned my first rifle.
To be fair, I had gone "pheasant hunting" on my grandparents farm in Urbana when I was a youth with my Daisy BB gun; and that singular experience encompassed my experience in the shooting world. At the end of the day, I, my father and 'my uncles' plinked at cans set upon a fence. We never saw a bird, but as a young boy, having been invited was crossing a Right Of Passage. But I wasn't a shooter…a hunter….nor an aficionado of the shooting sports.
In 20 'aught-something', I myself had looked up local places to shoot in our area. A place to learn, that wouldn't judge or laugh, but Lead me. SABRES was 'close'; just across town. Then, as now, the gates were usually closed when I drove by. It seemed a mystery on how to access anything related to the club. It was Private and they wanted it that way, I thought to myself.
By chance, I drove by one day and the gate was open. Cautiously, I opted to venture inside. Was I trespassing? Most certainly, I thought. Would my innocent desire for more information be met with aggression? My heart raced…
To my wonderment, I met a man named Jack. He welcomed me wholeheartedly, gave me a tour of the facilities and sent me to the clubhouse to get an application to 'Join'. He, that day, signed my application, became my Sponsor and my Mentor.
I attempted to learn what I could in those early days. What is an Anschutz? Is it like my Sears/JC Higgens .22? No, they aren't. And Yes. Not really; but Yes and No. But they both did the same thing. They sent a single shot of lead down range toward a small metallic silhouette…and they both equally missed their intended targets as they impacted the earthen berm.
For what it's worth, I sucked at shooting; I still do. At Silhouette, M.P.P.C., Mini-Palma, Winter League that following winter…. I'm not a 'shooter'.
But I digress; I had done this thing. I was now a 'shooter', as poorly as i shot and a member of 'that place'. It really didn't factor into my life until…suddenly it did.
2009, my daughters 10th birthday: I knew by then that the club had a Junior Smallbore League (whatever that was). Later that evening, after shooting for her first time, she thought she was 'cool'; and haphazardly we made it to the Jr. league the remainder of the Summer season.
As it happened, that year was Winter Olympics. She excused herself during a commercial break and returned to Biathlon…whereupon she exclaimed on tiptoes, finger pointed and Absolutely Transfixed, that she wanted to do 'THAT'!
Well she didn't. I'm not moving to where it is permanently cold. North West Ohio winters suck enough.
But that event did make me research 'Position Shooting'. And before i knew it, I was an NRA/USA Shooting Certified Rifle Coach and NRA Range Officer She already had a whole team of NRA Certified Instructors at SABRES; now she had a 'coach'. Before I knew it, the Lima SABRES EDGE Rifle Team had a Smallbore rifle coach, an additional range safety officer and unwittingly, a Smallbore Programs Director. And the Junior Rifle program grew. A LOT!
If you're still here, you've read too much. And you may likely by now know where this story goes. If you do, 'Thank You' for riding that wave with us; YOU made it happen, and I thank you.
If you don't, you should know this…Lima SABRES Shooting Association is filled with genuine people from all walks of life who give of themselves, believe in Individual Spirit, and literally give their time, knowledge and money to make an experience for you and your family that you can take with you for your lifetime.
You will NOT go wrong joining this organization. I didn't. My family didn't.
And I wholeheartedly invite you to join us. I was YOU, and You Belong Here
Jeremy.
